Clayton Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender IV


The Clayton Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender IV.  Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position. This Assistant Public Defender will represent clients in court at various stages of cases, including arraignments, preliminary and pretrial hearings, probation and sentencing, or any related courtroom proceedings. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, as well as have a strong commitment to indigent defense.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender IV will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients in the Complex Trial Division of the Superior Court. This position performs as an expert attorney, assigned to serious, high-profile, and significant felony cases. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Juris Doctorate in a related area from an accredited college or university and license to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring or reciprocity and three (3) years of relevant legal experience; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower-level Attorney 3 (LEP022).
